Well, the kids eagerly entered their new classrooms today to "meet their teacher". They were able to pick their desks, explore their classrooms, and have a brief social visit with their new teachers.
It really is heartening to watch through D and E's eyes the untainted joy of the expectation of the new year.
D is "top dog" this year on campus. He has a very enthusiastic teacher, but she does expect compliance in her classroom. I think it will be a good fit for D. Wow! He is eleven tomorrow, and entering the sixth grade.....not sure where the time has gone.....Too quickly.....In the blink of an eye......Okay, enough from a reminiscing mom.
E has an incredible teacher this year. She was able to have a 'preview' of Mrs. White during Summer School. E fell hook, line and sinker - and thinks her teacher is magical and wonderful. She turned E unto Ancient Egypt. Okay, this is cool - finding something that makes your kid want to dig through books, look at artwork, and have informed conversations about. Hint - hint for a theme for Christmas. Anyway, her teacher has a very 'humanitarian' approach to class projects. I think we are going to watch Miss E BLOOM this year! Oh, yeah her best buddy Ashley is in her class and will be sitting next to her - an added bonus when you are eight!
The kids got to do their stuff on their campus, and then they hurried over to the Intermediate Campus for Mom to open her classroom for her students "to meet". Well, this year Mom had three students come in.......Better than last year. But, not bad for being RSP. Mom also had the Principal, Vice Principal, Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent visit her room - a whole bunch of administration - I think it would be safer to stop there.
Oh yeah - in the kids wide eyed enthusiasm about the first day of school - have had their new backpacks packed for four days now...........gotta love the positive outlook!!
