Changes

Well, the leader of our fearless family has accepted a faculty position at Mendocino Community college. This means we are moving again. Packing, finding a new home, new schools, new grocery stores, new places to eat, new new new. Ugh.

Exciting and scary at the same time. I don't think either of us have thrown up...yet.

So in the midst of these new changes....what happens....the hard drive in the main PC dies. Crap. We were waiting till payday (5/1) to get a huge external hard drive to store pictures, docs, and the like....well, of course, on Wednesday....it died. So with some extra $$ we will have our needed stuff back. In the mean time thank goodness for the (older) laptop.

Well, this change has the potential promise of good things. I am sure we will have lots of tears along the way....but the otherside of tears is happiness. Here's to that!

Changes

When 'E' finished Kindergarten

Notice the orientation of 'E's' certificate.
It is a proud moment.

When the Ranger became implanted in our lives.

'E' on her 10th birthday.

The girls at 'D's' first BMX race.

When did I give permission to my children to grow up? Wait wait wait.......I have a daughter just on the verge of young womanhood (if you know what I mean). She still plays with Barbies, likes to color, dress up.....but then she is a nuturer with her younger sis, she can apply make-up, has a pretty good eye with fashion. Slow down sweetie.

'D''s latest interest......

BMXing. There is a relatively new BMX track in Santa Maria. The Ranger has been taking D down for practice and this passed Saturday D raced in his first race. Pretty impressive stuff. Fun to watch his passion. He came in second in his class. The winner in his class was another 13 year old - a girl. D's comment "maaan, she is fast". Turned out we were sitting at the same viewing table as her family. D came up and did some hand shake thing congratulating her. I really thought his sportsmanship had matured sooooo much.
Oh yes, D is the one in the red jersey.

School Year 2008

There they are......my three blue-eyed babies. 'D' is in 8th, 'E' in 5th, and 'A' is 2.

It seems like yesterday that I had no babies. Then I blinked, I have three beautiful children and live in someplace that was only a dream.

2008

Well, 2008 literally started with a bang. Apparently we didn't receive the message about the HUGE home fireworks display that we were supposed to participate in for our street, I think we were okay though - because we had neighbors who had HUGE fireworks going off. It was great for the first couple of minutes, but for crying out loud - did it need to go on and on for 20 minutes? Thank goodness it didn't wake the baby. Anyway - it was overall a quiet and uneventful New Year's Eve, save the HUGE fireworks.

So, the other change was driving the Ranger up to Asilomar for the attendance at the Mott Training Facility. It was a beautiful drive up. As I noted to the Ranger, the beauty of Pacific Grove didn't seem as breathtaking this year since we now live in a coastal community. Poor us. At least now, we can all watch the sunset together - the Ranger at Mott and us here.....just a different perspective, but the same sunset.

D & E will be home on Sunday from their father's house. I sure miss them. I have had almost a daily converstation with E. Don't know if that is good or bad....she is incredibly homesick.....and says that she is not having a good time. I know she wants to have a relationship with her father, but she doesn't know how, or he doesn't know how....and so they both suffer the loss of it. I hope at some point they figure it out.

A woke this morning and was able to finally 'talk' into the phone. She said "Hi Daddy"....thank goodness she was talking to the Ranger. It made both of us swallow a little harder this morning. I'm glad that when she did decide to start talking on the phone, it was first to the Ranger.

New Year intentions being good - I am going to try and keep this blog a little more up-to-date. Two other things, first is the Ranger is going to blog his experience at Mott - so look for that one; and I am going to start a blog for D's photographs. He is learning to make a story with his pictures and I want to encourage him. Look for that one too.

Hope 2008 is blessed.

Bath Time

The little one certainly loves her bath time!!

Him

Here he is in one of my absolute favorite shots of the Ranger.

My four babies

Well, only three of them did I birth into this world.....but I was the first to touch Miss Blair.

I adore all four of these children. Would give my life for any of them. Want the best for each of them. (Okay, stepping off the Mommy soap box).

Are these four the cutest kids in the world!!!

The Move

Well, as you can see nothing has been posted here in a very, very long time. I will attempt to correct that as we begin this new phase of our lives.

The Academy is going well for the Ranger. He has 50 calendar days left. The kids have 24 more days of school. C has 25 more days of work.

Relocation: we have found a new home! Some/most/all of you got the new address in a separate email. The house is a great 3 bed/2 bath /backyard/ hot tub/ view of the bay and the rock. We will post pictures later.

The move - ugh! Exactly how do you collect so much carp in such a short period of time?!? Can someone explain that to me - PLEASE! We will just start with one box at a time. The kids will be cleaning/sorting/throwing away as they pack. Darn kiddos have as much carp as the adults do.

My room - not only do I need to pack the house, I have my classroom to pack as well. Boy, for only teaching for 4 years I have managed to acquire a bunch of stuff at school too! I think there is a running theme in my life.

The two older kids are excited about the move. They like the idea of a fresh start.....a new house.....new adventures. They have started to be more open to changes and taking risks. It is good growth for them. As for the baby - she doesn't care where we are going - just as long as we take her with us.

The Little Man

Today is D's eleventh birthday. WOW! Just saying that makes his Mama well up with happy tears. D had just turned 5 in this picture. He stills loves jeans. He still loves sticks. He got his first kiss on the cheek from a girl last night. WOW! Time goes my quickly.

Happy Birthday little man......happy birthday!!

Meet the Teacher Day

Well, the kids eagerly entered their new classrooms today to "meet their teacher". They were able to pick their desks, explore their classrooms, and have a brief social visit with their new teachers.

It really is heartening to watch through D and E's eyes the untainted joy of the expectation of the new year.

D is "top dog" this year on campus. He has a very enthusiastic teacher, but she does expect compliance in her classroom. I think it will be a good fit for D. Wow! He is eleven tomorrow, and entering the sixth grade.....not sure where the time has gone.....Too quickly.....In the blink of an eye......Okay, enough from a reminiscing mom.

E has an incredible teacher this year. She was able to have a 'preview' of Mrs. White during Summer School. E fell hook, line and sinker - and thinks her teacher is magical and wonderful. She turned E unto Ancient Egypt. Okay, this is cool - finding something that makes your kid want to dig through books, look at artwork, and have informed conversations about. Hint - hint for a theme for Christmas. Anyway, her teacher has a very 'humanitarian' approach to class projects. I think we are going to watch Miss E BLOOM this year! Oh, yeah her best buddy Ashley is in her class and will be sitting next to her - an added bonus when you are eight!

The kids got to do their stuff on their campus, and then they hurried over to the Intermediate Campus for Mom to open her classroom for her students "to meet". Well, this year Mom had three students come in.......Better than last year. But, not bad for being RSP. Mom also had the Principal, Vice Principal, Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent visit her room - a whole bunch of administration - I think it would be safer to stop there.

Oh yeah - in the kids wide eyed enthusiasm about the first day of school - have had their new backpacks packed for four days now...........gotta love the positive outlook!!
